(GOLD MEDAL ALL CANADIAN WINE CHAMPIONSHIP) $45.00 / 1500 ml 2007 impromptu VQA SOLD OUT im-promp-tu, adjective meaning: made or done without previous preparation. 2007 is the second vintage of impromptu, a unique blend of Syrah (68%), Petit Verdot and Malbec, (12% each), and Cabernet Sauvignon (8%). It is always made in small quantities - only 2736 bottles this year - and was crafted from fruit sourced exclusively from Lailey Vineyard in the Niagara River subappellation. impromptu is a rich and full bodied wine with dark fruit aromas, and some white pepper and cedar notes. The palate is elegant with ripe fruit flavours balanced by round, but firm tannins that give this wine the necessary structure for five to seven years in the cellar. Aged fifteen months in French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered or fined, impromptu will throw a deposit with age so decanting is recommended. (Silver Medal - 2009 Intervin International Wine Awards) $45.00 / 750 ml 2007 Meritage, Canadian Oak VQA "Cabernet sauvignon represents 25% of the blend for Lailey's Canadian Oak Meritage, but winemaker Derek Barnett believes that it makes the wine.
